ABOUT Andrew
Andrew is a freelance 0peratic bass with a wide breadth of repertoire and experience.
Andrew studied at the Royal Academy of Music and later the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland where he was a member of the Alexander Gibson Opera School, graduating in 2013. Whilst there he was the recipient of the ABRSM Scholarship. Recent operatic performances have included Performing as Fasolt in Das Rheingold at Grimeborn Opera Festival and as Gravedigger in Kurt Weill’s Silverlake with English Touring Opera. Other performances include playing Antonio in Le nozze di Figaro at Nevill Holt Opera and Collatinus in The Rape of Lucretia at the Arcola Theatre in London. They have also included Bartolo in Le nozze di Figaro at the Kilden theatre Norway, Zaretsky in Eugene Onegin and Antonio in le nozze di Figaro with Garsington Opera, Capellio in I Capuleti e i Montecchi with Pop-up Opera, Talpa in Il Tabarro at Wexford Festival Opera, Simone in Gianni Schicchi with Opera Bohemia and Russian Father in Death in Venice at Garsington Opera, In Scotland Andrew performed as Falstaff in Die Lustigen Weiber von Windsor, Mendoza in Prokofiev's Betrothal in a Monastery at the Theatre Royal in Glasgow and the Festival Theatre in Edinburgh, Seneca in L'incoronazione di Poppea, Snug the Joiner in Britten's A Midsummers Night’s Dream, and Sarastro in Die Zauberflöte. He has performed as a member of many eminent operatic companies, including Bayreuther Festspiele, Glyndebourne Festival Opera and Independent Opera. |
Andrew is also a very experienced oratorio singer having performed a wide range of repertoire with notable performances including Hayden's Nelson Mass with the Oxford Bach Choir, Hayden's Creation in Glasgow University Chapel, Bach's St John Passion at Arundel Cathedral and Paisley Abbey, Bach's Magnificat in D at King's Place London and Handel's Messiah at St Mary le Tower Ipswich.
Andrew was involved in music from a young age, starting as a chorister at Lichfield Cathedral. In 2005 he was appointed as a Choral Scholar at King’s College Cambridge, whilst studying for a BA in History. |
